Top Tips To Keep Kids Cool This Summer

It probably hasn’t escaped your notice that the UK has been experiencing something of a heatwave recently. Although temperatures have started to fall, they’re still on the warm side, particularly in and around cities.

If you’re looking for au pair jobs in the UK, it might be a good idea to consider the ways in which you can keep the kids you’re looking after cool.

MLive recently shared some tips on how you and the kids can stay cool as the UK basks in near record temperatures. At the top of the list is making sure that everyone stays properly hydrated. Water is a better option than sweet, sugary drinks, but ice lollies are also a great choice. You could even make your own with some watered-down fruit juice and a popsicle mould.

That said, it’s important to give children cool, but not cold, drinks. Iced slushies and similar drinks can actually be too cold and cause stomach cramps, the news provider noted.

Although it might be tempting to spend all day out and about with them, it’s important to plan time indoors in cool areas to allow the body to recover. If you want to get out and about, do so in the early morning or early evening when it’s a bit cooler.

When you’re all getting ready for a day out in the morning, the BBC notes that it’s important to think about what you’ll be wearing. Covering skin with lightweight clothes in a pale colour can not only help to keep you cooler, but will also prevent sunburn.
